During my time at the University of Washington, I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to expand my knowledge outside of the classroom and be involved with the greater UW community. I am lucky to call the Pacific Northwest home, as there are many opportunities to explore my interests. I have been actively involved with leadership and mentorship on campus, and this has given me a great platform to work alongside my peers and make positive change in the UW community, and help younger students navigate college. I have been able to explore research opportunities on campus, and was able to study abroad in Greenland and Denmark. My study abroad allowed me to pursue further research interests, as I served as an Undergraduate Arctic Scholar for the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, and I was able to learn how my interests in the environment, policy, and planning can be combined. On campus, I have been involved with public health research in Eastern Washington, and I have gained a much greater understanding of the social concerns behind many common environmental problems, and how policy and planning can be used as a solution. In my last quarters at UW, I am hoping to further explore research opportunities, to hopefully make positive impacts in the community around me, and continue pursuing the issues that I am passionate about.
